Pula is a city located in Istria County, Croatia. The city is one of the most authentic and varied locations in the whole of Istria. Pula has a rich history and this is evident in the huge quantity of architectural remains preserved. Pula was Istria’s political head quarters since times of Roman Rule. Pula was also an important port. It has a long tradition as a ship building center. Along with this, Pula is also known for its flourishing wine making, fishing and tourism industries.

The Main Attractions
The Arena (Amphitheater)
The massive amphitheater at Pula is the sixth largest surviving amphitheater with a capacity of 22 000 people. The amphitheater was completely built in 96 A D.
An audio tour of the theater including the subterranean caverns where the wild animals and Gladiators were kept in ancient times is informative and extremely worthwhile.
The amphitheater is now a concert hall showing music, theater and other performances in the summer.
Triumphal Arch of the Sergi
This is one of the most famous structures in Pula. The Arch is also called the “Golden Gate”. Although the exact date is not known, the Arch was built between 29 and 27 B C by Salvia Postuma Sergi to honor her three male family members who had fought and perished in the battle of Actium.
Temple of Augustus
Built in honor of Augustus who was the first Roman emperor, the temple now holds a collection of Roman sculptures, many of them notable.
The Forum
The Forum is the main square in the heart of Pula. The ancient Roman Forum was also at the same site. The square has a city hall built in 10th century A D. as well as the Temple of Augustus.
Churches
Cathedral of the Assumption
The Cathedral of the Assumption was built on the foundations of a Roman temple. It dates back to 4th century A D.
Franciscan Church and Monastery
A masterpiece of Gothic architecture, the Franciscan Church and Monastery was erected in 13th century A D. It is shaped uniquely as a single nave basilica having a three apse space.
Archeological Museum of Istria
The museum showcases artifacts from Roman times as also objects collected in the middle ages. Some prehistoric exhibits are also to be found.
Beaches in Pula
The beaches in Pula are concentrated at Verudela peninsula which is located about 2 kilo meters form the main part of the town.
Valkana Beach, Kolumbarica Beach, Dedeljak Beach and Hawaii Beach are the best loved beaches.
The Brijuni Islands off the coast is a nice location for a day trip. There is a national park there with many interesting attractions.

I must say the info given by your blog is quite in-depth as i am planning my next Holidays at Pula the Archeological Museum, which has been
developed from Roman time is a must see as there are objects which has collected from Middle ages. So its an amazing old location information.
