Indonesia has gradually become the hotspot for international tourism. The country is rich with colorful beaches, ancient monuments and stupas.

Jakarta is the capital and the largest city of Indonesia. It is the economic,cultural and the political center in Indonesia and also the 12th largest city in the world.

Jakarta is an amazing tourist destination and has lots of places to visit. You can visit these places by going in for the group tour bus or simply take a taxi.

Taman Mini is a beautiful and a well planned and maintained theme park in Jakarta. The park depicts the various cultural and artistic traditions of the Indonesians. Each of the 27 provinces of Indonesia is represented here on this single pavilion. You can also get a taste of the province’s food and handicrafts. One can also see the traditional dance performances and also the wedding ceremonies which are held in the area. At Taman Mani, you can find a botanical garden, a bird’s park, an aquarium and a “Komodo Dragon Museum”.

The Ancol Recreation Area in Ancol, is situated on the Oceanfront in North Jakarta. The recreation park houses a marina, an eighteen hole golf course, a waterpark and an oceanarium. The ‘Pasar Seni’, an outdoor market features watch painters, woodcarvers,leather crafters and other artisans who are at work.

The National Monument or ‘Monas‘ as famously known is a tower which was built during the administration of Soekarno, the first president of Indonesia. This tower has a historical significance. It is believed that it served as a beacon light for those who got lost. There is an elevator which takes the tourists to the top of this 132 metre monument where there is an observation desk. There is a small monument at the base of the tower which contains ‘historical exhibits and dioramas’.

The Jalan Surabaya Market is the largest shopping area in Jakarta. There are a collection of antiques which are available at the stores there. Also, you can find “puppets, weavings, musical instruments, nautical bric -a -bric, and wooden carvings etc”.

The Pulau Seribu also known as the “Thousand Islands”, are a group of hundreds and thousands of islands which are situated on the waters of Jakarta. These islands have become a getaway spots for the people of Jakarta and for tourists residing nearby. These islands have great shopping areas, restaurants, and recreational facilities.

Jakarta is the most amazing place as far as tourism here is concerned. This has become the tourist destination for short weekend trips and also for people who seek refuge and want to spend time alone.
